She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die just to see her again. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen's triumphant return.

Celaena’s epic journey has captured the hearts and imaginations of millions across the globe. This fourth volume will hold readers rapt as Celaena’s story builds to a passionate, agonizing crescendo that might just shatter her world.

Pure Epicness

With every new Throne of Glass release I swear I spend half the review talking about how epic it’s becoming. Once again, QUEEN OF SHADOWS is the most epic instalment of the series so far. The world is growing, the plot is thickening and becoming bigger, and there are more and more epic action scenes on a scale bigger than anything that’s appeared in the series before. Intense sword fights, magic, demonic creatures, wyverns, and fey. What other epic things could you possibly ask for? Well, a war, but that’s currently brewing and is sure to be brutal.

This is the best

 Great Character Growth

With every new release in this series I make a point to reread all the books that came before it. It’s an emotional time but also great for reminding yourself where the characters started and how far they have come. And the characters in QUEEN OF SHADOWS have grown so, so much from when they were introduced. The events they’ve survived and the choices they’ve made have shaped them irreversibly.

 Badass Characters of All Kinds

I love my badass characters. Not just the physical ones that can kick ass but the cunning characters, the characters with unexpected inner strength, the characters who will do anything to protect those they love. QUEEN OF SHADOWS is filled with all of these characters. Some characters, like Lysandra, I never expected to come to love as much as I do. I love them so much but also damn them and their sacrifices giving me glorious feels.

“She was a whirling cloud of death, a queen of shadows,
and these men were already carrion.”

Brilliant Plot Twists

QUEEN OF SHADOWS has completely destroyed my image of what I thought the villain’s plans were. Completely destroyed them. And I can’t really talk that much more because those are major spoilers. But I will just say there where a number of little scenes where a little plot twist had me sitting back in shock, my heart in my throat because it was terrifying to think what such a change could mean for the series.

Happy, Empowering Ending

QUEEN OF SHADOWS has left me in a book hangover. All that shock and emotions have overwhelmed me. And yet it’s not because there were tonnes of character death and scenes that were emotionally draining. No, I’m just in love with this book and the characters and the plot it gave me. Everything in it blew me away and has created something so epic. Compared to the other books in the series QUEEN OF SHADOWS has the happiest ending (though THRONE OF GLASS may beat it) and I have a feeling it’s the final calm before the storm of the last two books.

QUEEN OF SHADOWS was the perfect instalment in what has probably become my favourite fantasy series right now. Every single book just leaves me in awe. I’m so terrified and excited for the final two books in this epic series to be released.

Fantastic review Bec^^ You know, it’s funny that you say how every installment of the series is more EPIC than the last. For me, every.single.time. I say that the new installment is a total game changer…and then the next book comes along and TOTALLY CHANGES THE GAME AGAIN. I could NOT GET OVER that twist with the villain that you spoke of and honestly I’m scared to see what’s coming to top that O.O Like you, I grew to adore characters like Lysandra SO MUCH, so naturally my love for other favorites grew as well ♥ You’re right about the happy ending and how it’s likely the calm before the two final storms of the next books. ARE WE GOING TO SURVIVE IT ALL?! I doubt it…

Anyway, I’m glad you adored this just as much as I did :D

They just keep turning everything on its head! I love it. I’m so excited (and terrified) to see where it goes next because I can’t even begin to guess.

Lysandra is AMAZING! All the characters were. They’ve all grown so much and done so well.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bad review of these, honestly. So they must be pretty good… they almost sound like Game of thrones in the sense that there are lots of plot twists and some unlikable characters become favorites. Although if there is the occasional happy ending that’s good, since GoT doesn’t have too many of those LOL.

I’m looking forward to trying these in 2016.

To be honest I much prefer this to GoT haha. The world isn’t so bleak and there isn’t that big of a death count… yet. It’s also lighter and easier to get through haha

      I hope you love them!

Wow, I am SO happy to see this get a perfect rating from you, Bec! I am so, so scared to start it, because I have heard mixed things, of course. But you kind of sold me with character development and plot twists! I need these things in my life, of course. Plus, I don’t want to get spoiled more than I already have been, so I should probably just read it! I LOVE that the end is great too- it will tide me over until book 5 (maybe!) Fabulous review!

There were mixed things but also a lot of hype so I was scared too. But it’s so worth it! I was blown away.

      Thanks :D

I don’t know where Sarah J. Maas learned to write, but can I do that? Everything she writes is just…!! It’s so pretty I want to puke.
