About the suspicious quietness…

October 8, 2013 Update 68

You may have noticed that lately, we haven’t been posting much. We used to post almost every day. Well, Alise did. She wrote posts like crazy. But something had changed. There’s a new aspect in our lives that has prevented us from dedicating the time we want to blogging. What is this evil thing?

STUDY

We’re both in uni/college whatever you want to call it and unsurprisingly, a lot of our time needs to be committed to study and assessment. Alise is in her first semester of college and I’m in my second semester of uni and there isn’t enough space in our day for blogging, class, reading, and study. I haven’t finished a book in the past two weeks, my workload is so terrible.

Do not despair however, this is not a post about us quitting. This is just a post to let you know that things are going to be quiet around here. We both still love blogging and hate that school is taking that little joy away from us and stopping us from reading and blogging as much as we want to. Hopefully things should let up soon. My exams are over in five weeks and then I have three months off to read! Alise’s breaks are whenever american breaks are (the US starts their schooling year in a weird place and has strange breaks). You’ll just have to worship every post you get until we return with full force.

I guess I’ll see you next post (whenever that may be…)

Haha, I like how you consider the US breaks weird. It’s not weird when it’s what you’re used to! But I definitely get where you guys are at. I’m feeling the same way. Between starting uni and being in a completely new country, it’s hard to find time to read or blog or any of that. Glad to here you’re still sticking around! Whenever it works for you guys, I’m sure you’ll have readers here :)

They start in the middle of the year! Ours start in Janurary/February and end at the end of the year. Much more sensible.

Yeah, finding time is the hardest part and study is slightly more important. I can’t imagine being in a new country as well. The really dedicated will stick around, and it’s those guys we love the most XD

Here in Germany the fall semester starts in October and the summer semester starts in April. Weird too.

    Anyway, it’s no problem.

I know how it is to not always find the time for blogging and reading.

I mean I have a 4-year-old and a 7 months old. They do not love to sleep and it’s hard for me to find the time to blog and read. And I am so sleep-deprived that all I want to do is sleep all day, but what do I do? I spend 1 to 2 hours every night with reading:)

I just need that little reading time, it’s the only thing I do for myself these days, so even if that means less sleep, I will sacrifice it since I love to read!

Good luck with uni and college and hope to hear from you soon since I love your blog!

That may be even weirder than America :P

I try to read every night before I go to bed too. It’s really the only time I get and lately I haven’t been able to do even that because of exams.

      Thanks!

    • Bec

Aw, thanks! We’ll hopefully be posting periodically, just not as often as we have been in the past (at least I plan to).

  3. Jessica@a GREAT read

Ugh. I hated that about school myself! All the learning and hardly any time for good reading! I kind of had to schedule time in for at least one of my books else I would’ve gone crazy. Luckily I was able to read my book during my breaks at work at that time in my life.

The US school system is a little weird I guess! Of course being in the US myself, that’s what I’m used to. It’s what I have known as the school year, August-May with several breaks in between before the summer break. Hope you enjoy your break soon!

    • Bec

A chapter of a book is usually my study break, and I try to read a few more before bed but it can be hard, especially when it gets as busy as it is now.

In Australia, the school year starts January/February with an Easter breaks, winter break, September holidays (spring break), and then summer holidays which start in November/December. I just find it weird that you guys start/finish school in the middle of the year!

Can’t wait for you to come back-when I was seeing posts, I was worrying that my feedly was malfunctioning. But your studies have to come first so see you when you’r eable to come back.

Yeah, it sucks but study is more important. I hope to still be around, posting every now and then, it just won’t be very frequent.

  5. Shannelle (The Tracery of Ink)

SCHOOL, THOU DREADFUL THING. Anyway, God bless in college! I’m suffering right now too, and that’s with high school. But then, I also have the problem of figuring out what I want to do in college. Harumph.

Anyway, go and get lots of sleep. That’s the most important thing in life. Besides, ugh, food. And books. And music. And damn, this list isn’t going to end.

I had that problem too, but ended up getting in to my dream (I hope) course. Just remember you can always change if you don’t like what you’re doing!

I have to study so much, I don’t get time to sleep sometimes… Not as much as I want anyway. Bahaha, anything that helps you function is important XD

    • Bec

I finished ANGELFALL in a day despite having uni. It was so good I couldn’t stop…

Yay! It’s lovely to know all you guys are waiting for us <3

  6. Sunny

I was thinking about making this same kind of post (since I’ve been mentioning it ever since summer) so I completely understand. I loooove reading you ladies’ posts, but college is equivalent to the word “consuming.” IT’S LIKE A VACUUM OF TIME (I think I might say that later…). Anyways, hugs to you both. And it makes me smile that you say uni.

I’m sorry to hear that neither of you have been able to blog and read as much as you like- it’s always upsetting to not have time to do something you love so much- and I can really sympathise because I’ve been so busy with my own things, and am actually going to take a couple months away from the internet to just read and write and GET THINGS DONE, which is capitalised for my excitement! I can’t wait! Hope to see you both blogging again soon!

I’ll be on the internet procrastinating! I don’t think I could ever leave it for more than a day or so… Good luck with your stuff!

  8. Amir

As someone who’s finished college I can totally understand. Sometimes we just get that moments and I’m sure all bloggers do and has gone through the same thing. Thanks for the heads up and good luck with college/uni :)

It was a fun time for me and I’m sure it would be for you guys too!

It’s definitely hard to juggle studying and blogging. When I was in college blogging, I had to find ways to make some time to do both. But I’m a super procrastinator, so I used my blog to take my mind off of class. The worst classes are the ones where the professors tell you to study about 5 hours every day. Those tests tend to be freakin’ impossible.

I wish you both the best and good luck on your exams! Don’t study too much! It’ll drive you crazy :D

I procrastinate both study and review writing sometimes, so I get nothing done… All my exams are horrible :(

      Thanks

  10. Lesley Marie

Haha, the US school year is weird to you? I find that sort of hilarious :P It seems so normal to me. And don’t worry about Readers in Wonderland being a little quiet! Everybody has to go through the horrible thing known as STUDY. It sucks but it’s true :(

I will anxiously await your next post!

Ah girls I know how it feels! My classes have started and I’m going crazy. I mean I don’t have problems with posts as I always have a secret stash ready ;) only I cannot comment on other blogs daily and it kills me. Hope you’ll pass your exams with flying colors ;)

I need a job, but uni leaves no time for that either. That’s the good thing about the internet, it’s always here. Thanks!

  12. Shannon @ Novel Reflection

I’ve got the same issues going on, specifically these last two weeks…. Midterms are crazy. I have three tests next week. :<

It's my third year at my university, so I've gotten into a routine regarding when I can read. I either use reading as study breaks or make time during the weekends. It's also a great way to calm yourself down before going to sleep, in my case. You just have to find those nooks and crannies where reading time can be fit in~

      It just needs to end!

Yeah, I tend to read in the same sort of times as you. It’s just been extra hard to find that time recently.

  13. tonyalee

GAH! What is this “Studying” You are speaking of? I have never heard of such a thing,

It’s OK if life gets in the way! I think pretty much everyone is understanding and will still be here when y’all have the time!

    Good luck with finals :D

  14. Rachel @ Unforgettable Books

Bec, its very interesting hearing breaks in your view. In Austrailia, the long break is after the new year while here, in the US I have the long break in the after May. Good luck with college work Bec and Alise! I’m soaring through the same ship! I’m on a bit of a break because mid-terms ended but soon I have a long essay due next week and a two presentations.

Ours actually start before Christmas and don’t end until late January. It’s pretty good. Your holidays are just bloody confusing.

Thanka! Good luck with your assessment! I have one assignment to finish today then it’s time to start studying for end of semester exams :/

  15. Delaney

School is necessary but just sucks up energy and time and a whole load of other stuff. But America we get 3 summer breaks (idk about colleges) and breaks here and there for spring, winter, and Thanksgiving and occasional Furlough days where they can’t fund the school, so students get a day off. In any case, hopefully school is still to your handling and not a massive overload.

Oh and that Nai GIF. LOVE. <3 But Gareki is much better than Nai, Nai is like ideal little brother but Gareki will always be special in my heart. ///3///<

This is a very sad news but I totally understand you about straightening your priorities first. Don’t let blogging consume you, guys. While Uni is a very intimidating phase of every student’s life, it can still be fun. Sometimes even funner than blogging I suppose. I hope that you are both enjoying Uni life. it’s hard but I know that you’ll get by, guys.

    Cheers to a new journey!

Uni is stressful, but i’m loving it. A break can’t come soon enough though. I miss being able to read several books a week.

  17. Sam @ Realm of Fiction

Your terms start at the beginning of the year? Ours generally begin around September and end around June/July. Though I guess your summer holidays are at a different time of the year! :) I’ve been really preoccupied myself lately, so I can understand the lack of time to post. Hope everything goes well though, uni-wise! :)
