Aesthetically Pleasing Book Tag

May 16, 2017 Tag 30

I always loved pretty books, but joining bookstagram has only made me appreciate them even more. Seriously, a book that makes a good photo is so appealing, no matter how much we say “don’t judge a book by its cover”. AESTHETIC IS IMPORTANT

Since everyone loves a good post full of pretty books, I’ve decided to do the Aesthetically Pleasing Book tag, started by Book Syrup on Youtube.

Them sunset covers blend so well together! Those gold highlights are just gorgeous against the black/ dark green.

Best Simple Cover

One of the few occasions the Australian edition is better looking than the US hardcovers! The tarot card and black background really suits the creepy atmosphere of the story.

THE LUNA PALACE IN FAIREST IS GORGEOUS. I was so worried it wouldn’t photograph well, but my fears were clearly misplaced.

Best Map

The illustrations on this map are not only intriguing, but they are really good at demonstrating the land occupied by the Darwinists and Clankers.

Best Naked Hardback

This photo doesn’t really do HEARTLESS Justice. All that red is super metallic and shiny, and the black so smooth. It’s the most gorgeous hardcover I’ve ever seen.

Best Back Cover

The dresses on the back of the Throne of Glass books are STUNNING. What I appreciate even more is how most of the dresses are worn during important plot events in the novel.

Best Chapter Headers

Most books only have simple illustrations or just plain numbers as chapter headers. I like how SoC has a illustration that reflects the cover.

Jack Ripper Illustration

Is it any surprise that I enjoyed all those historical photos and forensic diagrams from the 1800’s?

Best Spine

Cruel beauty Spine

I totally blanked for this category. I can’t think of any books at home that have a spine that’s as pretty as the cover, but I do like how you can still see the rose on the CRUEL BEAUTY spine.

The colours and skulls and all those little details just work so well together! It’s so gorgeous.

Do you agree with my aesthetic choices?

I think I might tag some of my favourite boostagrammers so you can stare at more pretty photos!

If you really want to do this, consider yourself tagged!

AHHH I LOVE THIS TAG SO MUCH. And your choices are SO spot on. That Lunar Chronicles end pages though omggg. It makes me regret having the paperbacks so much. I also think Walk on Earth a Stranger is too ridiculously gorgeous for words. It somehow seems to glitter and just like pop?! How even. The designer is a magical creature.

Unfortunately I just packed up my bookshelf (moving woes blehh) so I’ll have to do this tag when I’ve unpacked but I can’t WAIT because I love it so.

Isn’t it great! I love sharing all the pretty books. Their designs are beautiful.

Moving sucks because you have to hide all the books. But at least you get the joy of rearranging your bookshelf again in your new place! I can’t wait to see your photos for this :D

Thanks! I conned my sister into making them for me haha (she used a tutorial on Paper Fury). I really need to get her to make more colours for me

We could all pretend we don’t judge books by their covers, but… look at some of the beautiful covers up there, how could you not be swayed by those at least a little bit? It might not be the most important thing but it’s… still kind of an important thing? How books are packaged and marketed is still a part of the reading experience, right? (I say, as I attempt to justify being a terrible cover-judge all the time.)

I’d never seen Heartless without the dust jacket… wow! They really put quite a bit of detail into that, didn’t they?

They’re just so pretty and look great on a shelf. Who doesn’t like pretty books as house decor haha. It’s also important to draw readers to a book because we’re all shallow like that :P

Isn’t it gorgeous!! I love that Heartless cover so much and am so glad they put that effort into it.

Thank you! I hope you enjoy all our future posts :)

It can be funny how some forms of books just don’t work. I find that particularly with audiobooks.
