Zoey is finally home where she belongs, safe with her Guardian Warrior, Stark, by her side, and preparing to face off against Neferet – which would be a whole lot easier if the High Counsel saw the ex-High Priestess for what she really is. Kalona has released his hold on Rephaim, and, through Nyx's gift of a human form, Rephaim and Stevie Rae are finally able to be together – if he can truly walk the path of the Goddess and stay free of his father's shadow…

But there are new forces at work at the House of Night. An influx of humans, including Lenobia’s handsome horse whisperer, threatens their precarious stability. And then there’s the mysterious Aurox, a jaw-droppingly gorgeous teen boy who is actually more – or possibly less – than human. Only Neferet knows he was created to be her greatest weapon. But Zoey can sense the part of his soul that remains human, the compassion that wars with his Dark calling. And there’s something strangely familiar about him… Will Neferet’s true nature be revealed before she succeeds in silencing them all? And will Zoey be able to touch Aurox’s humanity in time to protect him – and everyone – from his own fate? Find out what’s destined in the next thrilling chapter of the House of Night series.
I went into this with a really open mind because I had essentially given up the series. I chose to write this review because I assumed there were other people like me that had given up on the series but a little part of them still wondered what they were missing. Let me tell you, you’re missing something good here.
Fans of the first few books will love this one. It has everything good from them. The characters are back and acting like themselves, quirks and all. They all seem so much more real in this novel than they had been in the last few. After all the weird twists in the last book and the strange events that made the characters seem…well, out of character, they really have returned better than ever. I enjoy reading about the dynamics between each of them, even with the huge cast they all stay true to themselves and interact how their personalities might predict they will act.
I was a little leery of the new character introduced, Aurox, because he was introduced in the same way with the same persona Kalona, Stark, and Loren were. The mysterious cute bad boy. Aurox quickly assumed a unique personality and I ended up liking him, maybe that’s because a certain dead character was part of him. (A somewhat predictable twist but enjoyable nonetheless.)
Another thing I enjoyed was how Zoey is finally focused on Stark and only Stark romantically. Part of the reason I gave the series up was because of the lead, and how every guy fawned over her and she couldn’t choose between any.
If you were like me and put Awakened down with the thought it was going to be your last House of Night novel, seriously consider picking this one up because hey, if you hate it, you can blame me!

I have Destined sitting on the shelf. I have to get to it soon. Very nice review. I got tired of Zoey being so torn between all those guys too. I love Stark so I’m glad they are together. :)

I’m a new follower from Book Blogs. It’s nice to meet you. I hope you’ll stop by my blog sometime and consider following me back.

Thanks Kelly! Stark is definitely my favorite too. He seems more down to earth, literally and figuratively! Followed back, and I am for sure going to take a look at your novels when they come out.

This is yet another series that I haven’t gotten to. I’ll probably try to check it out after I get through the Vampire Academy series- still on book 2.

If you do end up reading the series you’re definitely going to have some patience, unfortunately. Not all of the them are total hits. Vampire Academy is hands down my favorite series. Richelle Mead is amazing. If you post reviews on them I’d love to read them.

      Followed via Twitter and GFC.
