Series: Anna Dressed in Blood #2
Genres: General, Horror & Ghost Stories, Paranormal, Young Adult
It's been months since the ghost of Anna Korlov opened a door to Hell in her basement and disappeared into it, but ghost-hunter Cas Lowood can't move on. His friends remind him that Anna sacrificed herself so that Cas could live—not walk around half dead. He knows they're right, but in Cas's eyes, no living girl he meets can compare to the dead girl he fell in love with. Now he's seeing Anna everywhere: sometimes when he's asleep and sometimes in waking nightmares.
But something is very wrong...these aren't just daydreams. Anna seems tortured, torn apart in new and ever more gruesome ways every time she appears.Cas doesn't know what happened to Anna when she disappeared into Hell, but he knows she doesn't deserve whatever is happening to her now. Anna saved Cas more than once, and it's time for him to return the favor.
If you thought ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD was amazing, you’ll be head over heels in love with GIRL OF NIGHTMARES.
“She crossed over death to call me. I crossed through Hell to find her.”
Cas has been haunted by awful visions of Anna and becomes set on trying to find a way to help her, determined that she’s not where she belongs. His will and love for Anna are the only things that keep him sane through many sinister trials and tests to bring her back.
What put this book over its predecessor was the amount of adventure and mystery in it. Things are revealed that leave you pining for answers. Characters we thought we knew are not completely what we thought. I turned the first page and my eyes didn’t stray until I turned the last.
I read some reviews where people complained about the ending. From my perspective, it was the most perfect and wonderful ending we could have expected. Bottom line, Anna and Cas are part of different worlds.
GIRL OF NIGHTMARES is written so beautifully, you can feel Cas’s determination and pain. You can see the horrific, disturbing images that you probably wouldn’t be able to imagine on your own. You can feel Anna’s helplessness as she is basically a pawn, thinking she deserves every torture being done to her. I even got chills when the group was in a place called the Suicide Forest, it kind of reminded me of The Blair Witch Project. Except…creepier.
Anyway if you have read ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD this isn’t one to miss. Five stars.
