Now, one hundred juvenile delinquents are being sent on a high-stakes mission to recolonize Earth. After a brutal crash landing, the teens arrive on a savagely beautiful planet they’ve only seen from space. To survive, they must learn to trust – and even love – again.

Bec is Waiting On…The Historians

The Historians by Trisha Leigh

Publisher: Self published
Genre: Sci Fi
Series: The Historians #1
Release Date: July 30th 2013

If you could learn the identity of your one true love—even knowing you’d probably never meet—would you do it?

Years have passed since refugees from a ruined earth took to space, eventually terraforming a new system of planets. Science has not only made the leaps necessary to allow time travel, but the process engineered a strange side effect—predicting people’s one true love.

The problem? If only one soul ever has been born, or will be born, that perfectly matches yours, the chances the two will exist in the same time and place are almost zero. It’s rare enough that the predictions have been reduced to a game, a parlor trick, and no one expects a happily ever after with their True.

If you had the chance to meet your one true love—even knowing you couldn’t be together—would you go?

Seventeen-year-old Kaia Vespasian is an apprentice to the Historians—a group charged with using time travel to document the triumphs and failures of the past—and can’t resist a peek at her long-dead one true love. Before she knows it, she’s broken every rule in the book, and the consequences of getting caught could be disastrous.

If you could save your one true love from a terrible, untimely death, would you be able to resist?

When Oz Truman, a fellow apprentice, discovers Kaia’s secret, he shows her the predicted trajectories that could result her from altering the history of ancient Egypt. They prove that if Kaia doesn’t ensure her True dies as he’s supposed to, the effect on the present will be catastrophic.

Would you have the strength to watch them die?

But when Kaia she notices Oz popping up in historical archives where he doesn’t belong, she suspects he has a secret of his own—and the conspiracy she uncovers breaks worse rules than traveling to ancient Egypt to meet a boy.

If Kaia’s experience with her one true love has taught her anything, it’s that no alteration to history comes without consequences. The Historians trained her to observe and record the past, but Kaia never guessed she might have to protect it—especially not from the people she trusts.

Ooh The 100 kinda sounds like Across the Universe?? But I like the cover :) The Historian seems really cool — it has time travel and scifi is one of my favorite genres..The cover Is pretty good for a selfpub :P

I haven’t read Across the Universe yet but all space books seem the same to me xD I agree, I hope the story inside is just as good!

I only heard of The 100 recently and couldn’t believe it wasn’t already on my radar. It’s completely my kind of book! I haven’t come across The Historians before but there seems to be so many exciting time travel books around at the moment and I’m dying to read all of them. This will get added to the list for sure. And I adore the cover! Great picks :)

They both look SO amazing! But “The 100” looks like my ideal kind of book! :)
    Great WoW post!

Both of these sound good. The Historians was on my radar but the 100 is new to me. Thanks for sharing!

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t really interested in The 100 until I read that it had been picked up for a television show PRIOR to even being released as a full-fledged book. And even so, I’m still antsy. Will the hype be justified? You just never know. I think I’ll wait until the reviews start rolling in. :)

That does sound a bit iffy, they are really taking their chances there. Of course, the CW is known to do that, so. We can only hope. Thanks for stopping by! :)

    • Alise

I know! I really hope the books comes out before because I prefer to read the book before the show/movie!

    • Bec

It has the potential to be good. Though with hormone crazed teenagers left on their own, lots of things could go wrong…

    • Bec

It definitely sounds intriguing. Maybe it will have more historical elements or something rather than just plain sci fi :)
