Publisher: Razorbill
Genre: Fantasy
Series: The Glittering Court #1
Release Date: April 5th 2016

A dazzling new fantasy series set in a mix of Elizabethan and frontier worlds that’s dripping with romance from Richelle Mead, #1 internationally bestselling author of Vampire Academy.

Big and sweeping, spanning the refined palaces of Osfrid to the gold dust and untamed forests of Adoria, The Glittering Court tells the story of Adelaide, an Osfridian countess who poses as her servant to escape an arranged marriage and start a new life in Adoria, the New World. But to do that, she must join the Glittering Court.

Both a school and a business venture, the Glittering Court is designed to transform impoverished girls into upper-class ladies capable of arranging powerful and wealthy marriages in the New World. Adelaide naturally excels in her training and even makes a few friends: the fiery former laundress Tamsin and the beautiful Sirminican refugee Mira. She manages to keep her true identity hidden from all but one: the intriguing Cedric Thorn, son of the wealthy proprietor of the Glittering Court.

When Adelaide discovers that Cedric is hiding a dangerous secret of his own, together, they hatch a scheme to make the best of Adelaide’s deception. Complications soon arise—first, as they cross the treacherous seas from Osfrid to Adoria, and later, when Adelaide catches the attention of a powerful governor.

But no complication will prove quite as daunting as the potent attraction simmering between Adelaide and Cedric. An attraction that, if acted on, would scandalize the Glittering Court and make them both outcasts in wild, vastly uncharted lands. . . .

I’ve been considering The Glittering Court even though I haven’t read anything by Richelle Mead.. and unfortunately, I haven’t read The Raven Cycle series -__- I’ve been reading good things about it.

Hope you guys enjoy your picks! :)

I’ve been a bit iffy with Mead’s latest stuff, but I’m looking forward to seeing how she’ll write a high fantasy series.

I love The Raven Cycle! They mess with your mind and are so unique.

THE RAVEN KING!!!! Yes. YES! A million times yes!! I need that book like air but at the same time, I’m scared that it will destroy me XD It feels like we’ve been waiting forever for this one too so it needs to come out already!

As for The Glittering Court? I’ve only read one Richelle Mead book so far and while it was interesting, I had some issues too. I really do want to check out her other books though – I still need to read VA for sure and well, if the reviews for The Glittering Court convince me, I’ll definitely add it to my tbr shelf. Naturally, I’ll be looking out for your thoughts on it :)

I am absolutely terrified for the Raven King and also really excited. It’s definitely going to destroy us and surprise us.

VA and Bloodlines are my favourite Mead novels. I had issues with Soundless but I’m looking forward to see how she writes high fantasy.

I’ve been marathoning The Raven Cycle with every book release! It’s so good to go back and pick up on all the subtle foreshadowing Maggie did.

    • Bec

Some of her books are really good!

The Raven Cycles is my favourite series of Maggie’s! She’s such a good writer.

Great choices! I can’t even tell you how much I want The Glittering Court in my hands. It is my the most anticipating read of this year.
I haven’t start The Raven Boys but plan to really soon so I could read this one on time, when I saw the cover I knew I had to have it in my hands…

  4. Lola

I can’t wait to read The Glittering Court. I requested it on netgalley, but haven’t heard back yet. I probably will order a copy if I don’t get accepted. I am really curious how this new series will be.

The Raven Cycle sounds like a great series, but I haven’t read any of the books yet. I like the style of the covers.

      Good luck with your request!

I love The Raven Cycle! The series is so well written and unique. They’re so pretty too.

There are so many good releases that I always loose track of what’s coming out soon. =) I think this is a good problem to have. The Glittering Court, by Richelle Mead, sounds quite interesting. I’ll have to add it to my TBRs. I’m most excite for May releases: The Last Star (I know you don’t care for The 5th Wave Alise *wink*) and The Rose and the Dagger.

There are so many good books coming out! They need to all get in out hands.

I still have to read The Infinite Sea and Wrath of the Dawn! Thanks for reminding me

    • Bec

It got pushed back a lot didn’t it but I’d rather it would come out later and be amazing than rushed. It won’t be long now though!

    • Bec

I’m also eagerly awaiting the early reviews. It’s going to be interesting to see what people think of this fantasy compared to Soundless.

  6. Meg

I really was not a fan of Soundless, but it seemed like the standalone was written more to bridge the gap between Vampire Academy/Bloodlines and The Glittering Court. Fingers crossed the latter is as good as it sounds!

    • Bec

Yeah I wasn’t a fan of Soundless either, and it’s why I’m a bit iffy about The Glittering Court and Mead’s ability to write fantasy. Hopefully it’s good!

  7. Wattle

The Glittering Court sounds quite interesting…I’m yet to read any Richelle Mead (I own multiple books, and yet…*sigh*) but I might have to pick that one up and…actually read it!

Right? I’m crossing my fingers the same thing doesn’t happen. The Glittering Court sounds a little more along the lines of Vampire Academy so I’m hoping it will be pretty good.

    • Alise

I totally feel you. Soundless was the only book by Richelle Mead I haven’t liked. But the Glittering Court seems like it will be more along the lines of Vampire Academy so I’m hoping it will be better.

      YUS.
