when

Many of you probably wonder what kind of riveting things happen in our everyday lives (sarcasm) so we have decided to sporadically allow you a glimpse! Be excited. Whether it be a funny story or something so strange that happened we had to share it, you’re going to sit there and listen to it! Or else. (not sarcasm) This time, Bec and Alise will be sharing a few random pictures. Don’t forget to read our other When I’m Not Reading posts!

I absolutely love all animals, and have had almost every small mammal (that’s legal to own in my state) as a pet. I’ve had so many pets and have collected an awesome amount of memories with them. Pets really can add a lot to your life. Here are the ones I can find pictures of! And let me know what kind of pets you’ve owned too!

lico lily

Hamsters are so fun to have you guys. They may not be the most affectionate pets but the antics they get up to are so hilarious. Top: Lily, she was the youngest and the baby. Bottom: Muffin, she was the second. I was showing Bec these pictures and she was like “They all look the same!” and to everyone else they probably do but I can still pick them out and it’s been five years :)

muffin

Roxy and Muffin were so hilarious. Roxy (the fatter one below) hated everyone and everything except me. She barely tolerated Muffin, as you can probably tell. She just has that “I’m not taking any of your shit, Muffin” look.

Left, my first dog, Zeke. Shiba Inu. He passed away around July 2012. We got Maya (right) on New Years Eve of 2013 and don’t be fooled, she’s being way out of character in that picture. She’s a total hellion in real life, when she’s not drooling over all the things you love. Such is the way of Rottweilers. You can see more of her on my instagram.

And my guinea pigs: Coco, Sophie, and Cookie.

I also thought I’d through in some pictures of my last trip at the zoo because why not?

As some of you may or may not know I am both a) a veterinary science student and b) an equestrian. I started Vet last year and it’s been fun and stressful so far, and horse riding is something I’ve been doing for six or so years now. In 2012 I started working at the riding school I attend on weekends and I love it. Always the highlight of my week.

Now, I don’t have any photos of me riding, but I do have random photos taken recently with my shiny new iphone 5 of animals here and there. If you follow me on instagram you’ve probably already seen them, if not PREPARE FOR ADORABLENESS.

What about you guys? Any pets?

Thank you! :D Yeah, lessons can get pretty expensive. I took them when it was $20 per one hour lesson which adds up if you go a lot. Depending on where you live I know there are some places that do tours or riding as a one time thing and that’s much cheaper but just as fun! I remember that post! That squirrel (and the kitties) are so seriously cute! Thanks!

Wow, Alise, you have so many pets! It looks like you’re just missing a cat, a bunny and some fish :) I don’t have any pets but I’d love to have a cat; too bad my brother is allergic to them. I wanted a hamster when I was younger but I know that they don’t have a long lifespan. I have no idea how you can tell yours apart because they all look so similar.

I’ve had fish too, haha! Aww :( I’m somewhat allergic to cats, too. Yeah, hamsters really don’t live that long, sadly. The longest I had was probably a year :/ It’s amazing how that works, isn’t it? :)

  2. Laura Plus Books

Those hamsters!!! I never thought much about hamsters until recently because I’ve realised how cute they can be haha. It’s amazing that you can tell them all apart Alise. True animal lover right there. ;) And then all the cute pictures of dogs and horses and if there was a word that meant fangirling over animals, that’s what would describe me right now haha. I’ve always wanted a dog but I don’t know if I’d be able to take the responsibility! Maybe one day though. :D

Gosh, aren’t they? I feel like the smaller they get the cuter they get. I love looking at them in the pet store, all huddled together in little heaps! Haha, thank you! Aww :D Dogs are pretty tough, yeah. Puppies are literally the WORST so it’s a good thing they are so cute ;) Definitely one day, it’s all so worth it!

  3. Neysa Kristanti

Epppp, Roxy and those three guinea pigs are soo cute! I always love those kind of fluffy, I-have-done-nothing-wrong-all-my-life expression kind of animal. And ooh, horses O.O I always love them, although I can’t even ride one :D

Anyway, nice post! Anything that has to do with animal is always lovely :)

Thank you :DD Right? Plus their fur is SO soft. Haha, a lot of people can’t. Or won’t, haha. I like to just look at them :P

Thanks! Trying to switch it up a bit.

  4. Andreea

Such a cute post! I have only had one pet – a cat. I loved her like I love my kids now. Sady, she had cancer when she was 9 years old and she died while I was still living in New York. I couldn’t even say goodbye to her… Still miss her.

Maybe we will have other pets when my daughters are going to be older.

I’m really sorry Andreea, that’s terrible :( And yeah, pets can easily become part of the family! You never really get over that loss completely.

This is such an adorable post. I am a total sucker for pets. :) I have two crazy dogs, a Heeler/Pointer mix named Danny and a Weimaraner named Oliver. Both are rescues, which is the only way to go for me.

I had pet mice growing up, so I totally understand love for small critters.

    • Alise

Thanks :) Aw, that’s great! I agree, we’ve rescued most of our animals too.

Haven’t had mice but they are SO cute!

  6. Anika Merkley

Aww those animals are adorable. Love the horses! I love animals too, and was so close to studying vet sci. I have ducks, chickens and a Shetland pony at home, plus the kookaburras and cockatoos who we don’t lock up but are practically part of the family. Dad and I constantly pester mum about getting a goat though and I’d love a dog.

They are pretty cute! Vet Science is the best course. Quite stressful and hectic and gruelling. I love it.

So many animals!! I wish I could have pets like that. Haha, goats are crazy and eat everything. Pains in the butt as they are, they’re pretty hilarious creatures XD

  7. Leigh

How cute! I used to have 2 hamsters but I wasn’t a very good owner lol I think I was in 4th or 5th grade. Yup. Now I’m more into dogs though my dog is a PAIN! He likes to pee wherever he wants even though he’s been trained. I guess he…forgot where to pee? Ugh.

    • Alise

      LMAO.
That’s so funny! I used to have a dog like that too. Once he got middle/older aged he seemed to forget all his training except when he knew for sure he would get a reward for it. Taking advantage of the system, I say.

  8. Summer/Sunny

Oh, I love animals so I adore ya’ll’s pictures! I think animals are a bit like twins, their owners (mothers in the latter case) can tell them apart :) Such cuteness! I’ve ridden on a horse once or twice, but have always wanted to more! I have an Australian Shepherd who is basically my best friend.

    • Alise

Thank you! You are so right, I was thinking the same thing :) I’ve ridden a few times and totally agree, it’s really a great experience. Australian Shepherds are so pretty!

    • Alise

Thank you! Aww! I think four was the most I had at one time, along with a dog so we are somewhat even :D

  9. Wattle

Aw so many cuties! I love rottweilers, they are the sweetest most loving dogs I have ever met, along with dobermans :) they’re all just big goofs (and I am not a dog person at all lol)

I have this weird fear of horses, but I respect them. They are magical beings :)

    • Alise

THANK YOU. I hate all the negative associations they have :( They really are!

Haha, a lot of people do! Right? So unlike every other animal.

    • Alise

Thanks! I’ve never owned a rabbit but I remember petting one and was amazing at how soft they were-and so cute! :D Nice!

  10. Dena

I love all your pets! We have a hamster, and he is super cute, but he gets a little carried away with his nibbling when we hold him and it ends up more like biting. But we love him anyway. ;)
    Dena recently posted…Happy Easter!

    • Alise

Thank you! Aw, that’s cute! I have the same thing Coco, she nibbles but sometimes she’ll just get you pretty hard. But yep, she’s my favorite! Haha

    • Alise

Aww :( But hey, that’s good news :D Puppies are so crazy, the antics they get up to and watching them get bigger, it’s the best! Thanks!

    • Alise

Thanks Lauren! Bec is way persistent, I tried to vet bio that my first year of college and might just have been the hardest year of my life. Sure! :)

    • Alise

Thank you! Wow, that must be a fun house :) Kittens are the cutest, plus the antics they get up to are so hilarious!
